How can I verify information on humancollab without trusting humancollab?
Every signed statement is a leaf in a public append-only Merkle log (RFC 6962). Anyone can download the leaves, re-check every signature, prove that an entry is included, prove that the log was only appended to, and compare its roots with timestamps anchored to Bitcoin. Small scripts without dependencies do this for you.
How
- Read the log state at https://humancollab.si/api/v1/log and the signed checkpoint at https://humancollab.si/api/v1/log/checkpoint.
- Run the scripts in github.com/furkanYanteri1/humancollab-protocol/tree/main/examples: verify-inclusion.mjs for any entry, verify-human-answer.mjs for passkey-signed answers, verify-credential.mjs for business credentials, verify-legal.mjs for the terms and policies.
- Compare with the independent hourly monitor on the protocol repository's checkpoints branch, or run monitor/monitor.mjs yourself.
Limits
- Verification shows who signed what and when, and that nothing was rewritten. It does not show that a claim is true.
- The more people keep their own copies of checkpoints, the harder it is for anyone to show different histories to different readers.
